Black History month now can be so much more than you imagine and it encapsulates a cornucopia across every strata of life. Thus, 2020 was a year of world
wide civil unrest because of the catalystic death of one black man, George Floyd. It sparked protests that spread across the US and then worldwide. But I am a well established teacher of many
years standing and I have managed and coordinated more than a few whole school, Black History poetry workshop classes. So I embrace all the
changes that evolve and emerge over time. As well as that, I have taken individual classes and groups within school and outside of school and been instrumental in
providing a creative space for the children to write their poems in.

It's a time to explore amongst other things: identity, history, tolerance, achievement, the arts and creativity. This will be done sometimes through role play, through art and always through discussion to gather pertinent words and
phrases to produce personal prose and poetry. I share, talk, present and perform my poems, allowing the audience to be drawn in and given the self belief to write and produce their own poems.
Sometimes a writing frame is provided, but freestyle writing is encouraged.
My lively, interactive poetry workshop classes are inclusive and intended for all ages from KS2 through to KS3. (8 -14yrs
