I had the pleasure of going to Cape Town and working with some children from a Gugulethu township, after school learning centre, facilitated by the Amy Biehl Foundation (Arranged by James Fernie of the Uthando charity).
The younger children read, discussed, annotated and engaged in some lively role play as they soared and dropped, 'flying' as dragons do. They imagined themselves roaring as fire
breathing, mythical beasts high above wheeling through the mountain tops and diving into the valleys below. Then they sat down and wrote their own 'Dragon' poetry.
The older teens (14-16) got to grips with a discussion on the topic of life choices in the 'Leaving and Moving On' workshop.
The workshop was inspiring - Siyende aged 16
Today it was just the best day --because I got good ideas from her - Bonani aged 15
